I read Malakhim not only for the great story and wonderful art but to see what new thing the Zombies are up to. Aleph is one of the most engaging "internet personalites" I've found on top of being a great artist and writer. 10 points to you ma'am.

Brilliant comic. The artist does each comic from scratch, which makes for evolving artwork, and the charaters are becoming much more refined. The storyline is nothing short of excellence, is quite complex and for some seems to be confusing, but dont let that put you off, it just needs a few more Arcs (what they seem to call chapters) for it to really fall into place. Its extremely well done. Now go read it.

Malakhim is painful to read at times, people get hurt in it and it's not a story about fluffy angels who make everything better. The rewards fit in with the costs though, the characters' successes and growths are that much more important because they're not easily come by, because there is something bad doing nasty things. There are stories out there that are all merry and fluffy, where the angels are perfect beings, or at least someone's idea of perfect beings. This isn't one of them and if you're looking for one like that then I recommend you look elsewhere, the story starts off for instance with the recounting of a boy's murder. If you want your angels to be more real than those fluffy images that can probably only ever be images though then you should probably read this. It's also very nice to watch the art become more refined as you read, and that's one of the reasons that I recommend you start from the beginning, sure it's a bit confusing if you do but you get to figure things out which is spiffy-fun and some of the art is really powerful especially in the early scenes.

Malakhim is not your typical webcomic. No punchlines, no fluff, just a great epic story and an evolving art style. It's refreshing to see an artist so passionate about her craft. For me, one of the biggest draws for this comic is the community. I've read hundreds of comics, some faithfully, and never found a community that I wanted to join until this one. Fun-loving and respectful, the egos are checked at the door. Check this one out. You owe it to yourself.

Go and read the comic. Okay, more seriously - Malakhim is a story of angels in the modern world, the story of a dead boy who didn't bother to finish dying; it's a fascinating, well-told story, and it's beautiful. You'll find, if you read the older pages, that Aleph (the artist) was exploring her style and changing it; the Arc 2 pages have a different feel and flow from the Arc 1 pages. There are forums for discussion and members - especially if they say something interesting in the forums, or donate - may find themselves with extra "easter eggs" in the From The Ophanim box from time to time, giving extra informational tidbits beyond the scope of the pages themselves, extra hints to what's going on (though not spoilers). They're a nifty bunch of people with a fascinating story to tell.
